Title Transfer (Y & A plates)

We will help with getting the car into your name and make the process as easy as possible – however there are a couple of things we need from you.

Unlike America, the process to complete the title transfer takes about 1 week and we need your help with steps 01, 02 & 06.

Liability Insurance (AIG or Chubb) 

Insured Vehicle by the buyer – you can purchase this on the base.

Initial Registration (security VRO)

Japanese Title, JCI Policy, Road Tax (New fiscal year receipt is required on/after 1st April each year), USFJ Driver’s Permit (One vehicle per license holder not to exceed two vehicles for each family).
Necessary paperwork prepared at the VRO
2-Week Temporary Vehicle Pass

Parking Certificate (local police station)

  • Revenue Stamp
  • JN application form – Completed in Kanji
  • Base Parking Certificate (on base residence)
  • House lease / Parking lease agreement (off base residence)
  • House Map, parking space map & parking measurements
  • Copy of Japanese Title
